Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan stated that during their contacts in Damascus, they reviewed in detail the preparations and road map that the High Planning Group could carry out before President Erdoğan's critical visit. Pointing out that the relations between Turkey and Syria have gained great momentum in the last two years, Fidan said, "Syria had to make a brand new start in its relations not only with Turkey but also with the whole world. The process of leaving the old Syria behind and building the new Syria is a historical development that brings peace and stability to the entire region. The Syrian state and government are making great efforts to develop cooperation with the countries of the region in every field. Reacting harshly to the tension in the Middle East and Israel's aggressive policies, Minister Fidan stated that Israel undermines the fight against terrorism in the region. It is obvious that Israel has a finger behind the instability in the region, and they do not hide it. The international community should take a clear stand against these unlawful steps of Israel," and called on global powers.

Referring to the potential for economic cooperation between the two countries, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan stated that the Turkish business world has a great investment appetite for Syria. Fidan said, "Our industrialists and business people have an incredible demand to establish mutual partnerships. We are preparing the necessary legal and physical infrastructure to strengthen these commercial ties. The strong commercial networks established by our Syrian brothers who have been living in Turkey for more than ten years serve as a strategic bridge for the economic future of the two countries."
