Istanbul, which is the economic and technological heart of Türkiye, is strengthening its place in the global innovation scene with a huge financing package that will support innovative projects. Within the scope of the new support program implemented by the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), 300 million TL of resources will be transferred to the innovation ecosystem of the city. Financial support varying between 5 million TL and 20 million TL will be provided to each project accepted within the program. This historic step aims to maximize the city's production potential and employment opportunities.
Istanbul's Leading Role in the Innovation Economy is Strengthened
The main priorities of the new support program are built on making Istanbul's leading role in the national innovation ecosystem more visible and creating new generation employment areas. The megacity, which hosts more than 40 percent of innovative employment across Türkiye, also produces approximately three-quarters of the national innovative economy turnover on its own. Concentrating resources in Istanbul is considered a strategic move that will enable the city to stand out in global competition by multiplying its enormous potential.
Sustainable Infrastructure and Cultural Heritage in Focus
Within the scope of the support program, projects will be evaluated meticulously in line with two main priorities. Birinci prioritet sahədə; Sustainable, scalable infrastructures, digital platforms, modern business models and service processes that will increase the production capacities of innovative sectors will be supported. In this context, transferring the deep-rooted cultural heritage to the future by blending it with the latest technologies and modernizing traditional production methods with contemporary designs are among the priority projects.
Urban Areas and Historical Places Are Transforming with Innovative Designs
The second priority of the program focuses on strengthening Istanbul's "innovative city" identity with aesthetic and functional touches. The city's parks, squares and coastlines will be repurposed with innovative designs. Additionally, extended reality (XR) applications will be supported in international artist programs, museums and historical areas. Visionary projects such as transforming idle buildings into production centers for creative industries will also come to life within the scope of this fund.
Deadline for Applications via KAYS is 4 December 2026
The application and evaluation processes of the projects will be carried out in completely transparent and digital environments. Entrepreneurs and institutions will be able to apply online only through the Development Agencies Management System (KAYS). The application deadline was announced as December 4, 2026. The suitability of the projects will be objectively analyzed by independent evaluators within the framework of the announced criteria. The application guide and all technical details of the program were made available to those interested on the official website of the Istanbul Development Agency.
