Turkish Airlines (THY) took another giant step to reinforce its leadership in the global aviation market and achieve its goal of increasing its fleet to over 800 aircraft by 2033. The flag carrier airline signed a historic contract with HAVELSAN, one of Türkiye's defense and technology giants, covering the supply of a total of 12 new flight simulators. Within the scope of the agreement, high-tech systems, including 8 full flight simulators (FFS) and 4 flight training devices (FTD), will be included in THY's training processes.
The most striking feature of the simulators to be produced within the scope of the contract is that all of them will be developed in Türkiye with domestic resources. The simulators compatible with the narrow and wide body aircraft types to be delivered will make THY's training infrastructure at international standards a much more dynamic and independent structure.
The first phase of the new simulator hangars, the foundation of which will be laid in January 2026, is planned to be operational in 2027. With the new Flight Training Center, which is planned to be completed in 2028, THY's training capacity will reach its peak.
Dr. Drawing attention to the importance of new investments, Murat Şeker said: "With the new orders, in 2033, Turkish Airlines Flight Training Center will become one of the largest flight training centers in Europe, meeting the needs of Turkish Airlines teams and serving other airlines on three campuses. We thank HAVELSAN for making valuable contributions to this goal with its domestic and national simulator solutions."
Turkish Airlines actively uses three Airbus A320NEO/CEO, two Boeing 737MAX and one Boeing 737NG full flight simulators, produced by HAVELSAN and certified according to international EASA Level D standards, in its current training centers. Finally, the EASA certification process of one Boeing 737MAX full flight simulator, which was delivered in line with the orders placed at the 2025 Paris Air Fair, was successfully completed.
Mehmet Akif Nacar made the following evaluations: "This contract is an important milestone as it represents our entry into the field of wide-body flight simulation. We thank our long-term business partner, our flag carrier Turkish Airlines, for its trust in us, and we continue our determination to offer high-quality simulation solutions based on advanced technology in the field of pilot training."
