The United Nations called for permanent peace to end the ongoing conflicts in Lebanon. UN official Al-Kheetan expressed his hopes for peace by giving a written answer to the question about the continuation of Israel's attacks.

UN's Emphasis on Peace

Al-Kheetan, as stated by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, stated that all parties should see the ceasefire on the basis of davamlı düşmənçiliyə son qoyacaq sülh. He emphasized that international humanitarian law should be respected and civilians should be protected.

Israel's Air Strikes

The Israeli army targeted many regions by launching intense air strikes in the south of Lebanon on March 2. After these attacks, more than 1 million people were displaced in the country. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 4 thousand 257 people lost their lives in these attacks.

Ceasefire Process and the Role of the USA

US President Donald Trump, in his statement on April 24, announced that the 10-day temporary ceasefire, which came into force on April 17, was extended for another 3 weeks. Then, as a result of the negotiations held on May 14-15 under the mediation of the USA, it was decided to extend the ceasefire for 45 days as of May 17.

Agreement Between Iran and the USA

Iran and the USA announced that, as a result of the negotiations carried out through Pakistan, they reached a 14-article agreement on June 14, which stipulates that the war should be stopped and the problems should be solved through negotiations. This agreement also includes ending the conflicts in Lebanon.

Direct Negotiations and Framework Agreement

After the 5th round of direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Washington, a framework agreement was signed between the two countries on June 26. This agreement is considered an important step towards achieving peace.
