During Fidan's visit, he is expected to meet with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and give a speech at a conference at Korea University. One of the main agenda items of the visit will be to further deepen Turkey-South Korea relations at the strategic partnership level.

The aim is to strengthen economic ties with South Korea, Türkiye's second largest trade partner in the Asia-Pacific region. In this context, new steps are planned to be taken to update the Free Trade Agreement and increase mutual investments between the two countries.

New partnership opportunities will be evaluated in areas such as nuclear and renewable energy, artificial intelligence and semiconductor technologies. Based on successful collaborations such as the Altay Tank project, it is aimed to increase the existing potential in the defense industry.
International and Regional Developments
Fidan will exchange views with South Korean officials on the Russia-Ukraine War, East Asia and other current issues during the visit. Additionally, attention will be drawn to the importance of multilateral cooperation on platforms such as MIKTA and G20.
History of Bilateral Relations
Diplomatic relations between Turkey and South Korea were established in 1957 and were upgraded to the level of strategic partnership in 2012. The trade volume between the two countries reached 11.3 billion dollars in 2025.
Future Visits and Joint Meetings
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung visited Türkiye on 24-25 November 2025 and five agreements were signed during this visit. The 9th Term Meeting of the Turkey-South Korea Economic and Technical Cooperation Joint Commission was held in Seoul last February.
These visits and meetings show once again how strong the cooperation between the two countries is. This visit of Minister Fidan is considered as an important opportunity to take relations even further.
