The pain of the genocide that took place in Srebrenica in 1995, one of the greatest tragedies in modern European history, remains fresh despite the passing of 29 years. Senad's grieving aunt, Zirafeta Jusic, told about her experiences in those dark days when more than 8 thousand Bosnian civilians were massacred and the story of finding Senad's bone remains.

During the Bosnian War, Serb troops under the command of Ratko Mladic occupied Srebrenica on July 11, 1995. After the occupation, civilian Bosnians who took shelter in the refugee camp under the protection of Dutch soldiers serving under the UN were handed over to Serbian forces. Serbs, who allowed women and children to go to Bosnian-controlled areas, massacred at least 8,372 Bosnian men in an organized manner in forest areas, factories and warehouses and buried them in mass graves. With its historic decision in 2007, the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, officially declared this atrocity "genocide" in line with the evidence obtained from the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
